The time, the place and the girl [collection] : a musical comedy in three acts / book and lyrics by Will M. Hough & Frank Adams ; music by Joseph E. Howard. 1906-1942.

Arranged in four groups: I. Vocal scores (2). II. Vocal scores-Selections (11). III. Orchestra parts (22). IV. Promptbooks (10 in 12 parts). Vocal scores are arranged as piano-conductor scores and are composites of published music and manuscript numbers. The selections, also in vocal score, are all for individual numbers, including "Love is a will-o'-the-wisp," "Junior miss," "There's something in my eye," "Let me ride by your side," and "Travelin' man." Also included is a vocal score for the song "I've got the time, I've got the place, but it's hard to find the girl," by S. R. Henry (music) and Ballard MacDonald (lyrics), presumably an interpolation. One set of orchestra parts is for the numbers "Thursday is my Jonah day" and "Don't you tell," arr. by Hilding Anderson and published by Chas. K. Harris (c1906). The second set is for a medley of songs from the show, also arr. by Anderson and published by Harris. All the promptbooks are typescripts, but there are several versions of the show, including one titled "I wonder who's kissing her now" in two acts (book and music attributed to Howard), and a two-act version copyrighted in 1937 in which book and music are attributed to Howard and the lyrics to M. Melissinos.
